The Answer

We all seek answers. Answers to life questions. Answers that will heal our pain. Answers that will solve our misery.

The masses, that we are a part of, are waiting for someone or something to come along and give us those answers. Just hand them to us.

And there are people are out there, trying to give them to you.

A few years ago, there was a DVD out there called ‘The Secret’. A couple of years after that, there was Eckhart Tolle and the Power of Now. They became movements that  swept the world. Hoards of people were buying this DVD and this book. Incorporating them into their lives. Where are these things now? Are they any less effective a few years later? Were they only meant for the population in 2004 and 2008?

I could list 100 more of these things that go back 100 years. All of them the ‘next great thing’ to help you get what you want. To help you be happy. Anyone remember Everything I Need to Know I learned in Kindergarten? I’m OK, You’re OK? Or Tony Robbins?

So many of us go to these outside sources looking for the answers. Even if it’s not these movements, we go to people we believe are experts; therapists, doctors, friends, Oprah, new DVDs or books, and now a few of the especially mistaken come to Urban Samurai. And we take what these ‘experts’ say and attempt to apply it to our lives and our situations, thinking we found the missing piece. Shortly afterwards, back in the same situation, we go looking for another answer.

You want the answer? You want the real secret?

As I very humbly put myself in the company of some pretty impressive people…we can’t help you.

We can uncover things that you may not be able to see right now. We can remind you of things that you already know. We can maybe try to help you become more positive. And help you believe that you can have everything you want. Or try to convince you to want everything you have.

But all the power, the answer to all your questions, lies in one thing: You. And the tools you have to get there. That is all. It’s not going to be on a DVD. Or in a book. It’s definitely not going to be found on this blog, written by a guy who has as many issues in life as you do. Probably more.

If you are one of those that keeps seeking answers from these people, most likely, you already know the answer. You are just not equipped to get there yet. And these people create these cool ideas and/or gimmicky campaigns to deliver a decent message, but you are left nowhere better off. You’re trying to sculpt a giant piece of marble with an X-Acto knife.

I wasn’t a huge believer in The Sercret other than the brilliance of a marketing campaign. But a lot of what Eckhart says, I subscribe to. A lot of what a lot of these experts say, I like. They’re all pretty much saying the same thing, albeit in a different package.

But they just tell you things. And telling someone something doesn’t do much for anyone. There is that old Chinese proverb, ‘give a man a fish and you feed him for a day…teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.’

When I think about the samurai way. And what it has done for me. It has ultimately armed the one person that can change the course that is my life. Armed me with tools. And weapons. And a mindset. Urban Samurai has taught me how to fish.

In a while, even if reading Urban Samurai does help you in some way, you will grow tired of me. And I will be gone. As fleeting and as fast as all these others. So don’t come here seeking answers. Don’t go anywhere seeking answers. You won’t find right ones because you are asking the wrong question. Seeking the wrong thing. Go seek the tools on how to help you get yourself into a great place. That might be here. That might not. But seek, discover, and master those tools that can help you get to where you need to go. Go learn how to fish.

That is your answer.
